India and South America are both very poor. Why, when Indian people rather starve to death, are so many South Americans selling drugs, what are the main cultural difference that most Indian people maintain ethics even in poverty?

Jui-Wei Yang

Hmm, I see, brainwashing from your media working in full capacity 😉

India isn't poor country like what is your perception based on BBC, CNN(CNN is tail holder of BBC basically. The whole reason BBC want to show India in poor light since their intention is to build narrative that India was better under British rule 😆) and recently in CCTV because obviously China wants to underestimate India, you can see from their conversation that how cooked up they are in their own reality 😆

INDIA IS A MIDDLE CLASS COUNTRY.

IT'S DEFINITELY NOT POOR SHIT HOLE LIKE SOUTH AMERICAN COUNTRIES.

So it doesn't face the situation of South American countries.

(By the way, China isn't that rich either, plenty of people in China live rather shockingly in poor condition but your media choose to avoid that, isn't it? 😆

I mean your government won't exactly allow foreigners to shoot pictures about poor people in China unlike what they do in India so very very good hiding tactics 👏👏👏

Just because China build plenty of sky scrappers, it doesn't mean that Chinese people are rich. There's plenty of empty skyscrapers which is built by China to show off to the rest of the world that look how rich and developed we are…yeah, we can see through any BS. There are plenty of people in China who live in those sky scrappers in horribly shockingly poor condition with plenty of people with very very little space).

Nevertheless, coming back to India—

You will find Indians earning through some kind of desk jobs or other similar middle income jobs.

61% of people in India belong to middle class.

There are four kinds of middle class people in India.

Upper middle class — about 10%

Middle middle class — about 15%

Lower middle class — 20%

Poor people risen to middle income groups- 16%

This is the consumption rate of middle class people in India. It's different from one place to another because India is the most diverse country in the world (even more than China).

Poor people are 28%.

(Your media wants to show you this 28% whenever they have anything to do with India to create a shit hole kind of perception of India.

Again congratulations for that 👏👏👏👏)

Rich people — 9% and even richer than that 1% (Super rich, super super rich, ultra rich).

Millionaires in India —4.28 lakhs (1 lakh- 100000)

Billionaires in India— 209

Middle class people are everywhere in India and they look like this—

These are not poor people!!

Now let's take a look at shit hole nature of our country that's not 28% (I know that you would prefer to see that 28% and it's also very photogenic, artistic excuse, what a class act!!)—

East India, West India, North India, South India-

West India, Mumbai:

East India, Kolkata:

South India, Bangalore:

You know a wise man once said, “If you underestimate something that you shouldn't then you are digging your own grave”.

We are one of those rarest of rare countries in the world that can actually beat China militarily.

So underestimate us in your own perils.

What are some mind-blowing facts about Elon Musk?

What are some mind-blowing facts about Elon Musk?

Elon Musk's mom, Maye Musk, has shared a copy of her son's 1989 computer aptitude test results from the University of Pretoria.

Musk scored an "outstanding" rating, and his mom recalled that he had to take the test twice to verify his high score.

The billionaire, who turns 50 later this year, had an early interest in computers.

On Wednesday, Maye Musk tweeted her billionaire son's results from a University of Pretoria computer aptitude test of more than three decades ago:

The 17-year old Musk, then a first-year student at the university, scored an A+ for both programming and operating a computer.

It reflects his strong interest in computers. At the age of 12, he sold a simple game called "Blastar" to a computer magazine. Musk described it as "a trivial game … but better than Flappy Bird (a mobile game)."

Maye continued, "And then of course he thought the banking system needed some some help, so then he did PayPal. And then after that, he thought, well, should he do space research or solar energy or electric cars? I said just choose one, and of course he didn't listen to me."

Maye — who is also mom to son Kimbal, 48, and daughter Tosca, 46, with ex-husband Errol Musk — said that Elon took his brilliance a step further at age 12, when he created a computer game all on his own.

Eyeball planets may quite possibly be one of the most interesting planetary concepts

Eyeball planets may quite possibly be one of the most interesting planetary concepts.

These planets are “tidally locked,” meaning that one side of the planet will always face the star. (The moon is also tidally locked around Earth.)

Because one side will always face the star, eyeball planets are interesting targets in the pursuit of extraterrestrial life. Hypothetically, in a “warm” eyeball planet, the side facing the star will be made of rock with liquid present on the dark side. In a “cold” eyeball planet, the side facing the star will host liquid whereas the rest is composed of ice and rocks. Because the heated side could be liquid and the rest could be solid, the planet could look like an eyeball.

Depending on the star’s heat, the planet’s proximity to the star, and the presence of liquid water, these planets could host life.

As Agustín Parra noted in the comments, there is also another, possibly more interesting situation for tidally locked planets. Instead of liquid in the midst of ice, some of these planets would feature a “Goldilocks Zone” with just the right conditions for life. While these are not eyeballs, they again feature an area where life is possible.

Many of the latest exoplanet discoveries, including those considered to be “Earth-like,” are tidally locked. Considering their wacky look, who knows what sort of life we could find!

What are other alternatives for aggregates in concrete?

What are other alternatives for aggregates in concrete?

  1. Expanded Polystrene(EPS)EPS balls are used as an aggregate instead of the crushed stone that is used in regular concrete, it known as EPScrete, EPS concrete or lightweight concrete. It has been used as road bedding, in soil or geo-stabilization projects and as sub-grading for railroad trackage.
It is created by using small lightweight
Styrofoam or EPS balls as an aggregate instead of the crushed stone that is used in regular concrete. It is not as strong as stone-based concrete mixes, but has other advantages such as increased thermal and sound insulation properties, easy shaping and formed by hand with sculpturing and construction tools. EPS concrete combines the construction ease of concrete with the thermal and hydro insulation properties of EPS and can be used for a very wide range of application where lighter loads or thermal insulation or both are desired.
  1. Expanded polystyrene concrete
  2. Crushed rubber: When vehicles tires reach the end of their usable life, they can still find some use as a replacement for course aggregate in concrete mixes. "Crumb rubber" is crushed form of car or truck tires that are ground up between the sizes of 3 - 10 mm. This mix has very poor compressive strength due to its high air content. It is believed that when this rubber is mixed in with the concrete air becomes trapped in with it. One benefit to the addition of this alternative is the rubber keeps the concrete from shattering in failure.

  1. Workability and mechanical properties of crumb-rubber concrete
  2. Glass: Crushed glass can also be used as an alternative to aggregate in concrete and this type of concrete is known as Glasscrete. As a construction material, the glass offers several advantages that
could be exploited in the concrete industry. Some of these advantageous properties are given below:
    • The very significant hardness of glass gives the glasscrete an abrasion resistance that very few natural stone aggregates can match.
    • Because glass aggregate has basically zero water absorption, it improves the flow properties of fresh concrete so that a reduction in water content can be obtained even without the use of water reducing admixtures.
    • The high chemical resistance of the glass to acidic solutions makes it suitable be applied to cases when the exposure to those chemicals is expected.
    • The novel colors and pellicular reflective nature of glass aggregates give it special light reflections that couldn’t be obtained with regular natural aggregate, make it very attractive for decorative concrete applications.
    • Because it is readily available to some extent, it could be considered as a low cost material.
  1. High Density Polyethene (HDPE):High-density polyethylene can be added to concrete as a replacement for course aggregate. But as the name implies, the material is too ductile at full strength to support structural loads at 2500psi. One benefit to this material is its measurable qualities in holding heat within buildings.
  2. Paper Pulp: Paperpulp is mixed with portland cement and white lime in the ratio 4 : 1 : 0.5 to form an entirely different type of concrete known as Papercrete. It is very weak and hence not used for structural purposes.

SUEZ CANAL what is suez canal why its important

On 23 March, 2021, a 400 metre long container ship named Ever Given ran aground due to high winds and dust storm. It covered the entire width of the canal and b locked the passage. Nearly 150 container ship are waiting to cross the canal.

Satellite Image of the Ever Given ship blocking the Suez canal. Image Courtesy: Al Jazeera.

In spite of many efforts, the ship was could not be dredged till today. It may take another week to clear the canal passage. this is latest position of the blockage of canal.

The consequences of this blockage is that it may reduce the oil supply and boost the oil prices again.

Russia has said that in view of this crisis it is more important to develop N orth Sea route which would be an alternative to Suez canal route.

Why is it taking so long to dislodge the containership blocking the Suez Canal

Accidents happen, but how one deals with the accident is not “an act of God” but entirely of one’s own doing. The appalling lack of efficiency in salvage is on full display here.

This is not how it’s done. This is betting all on hope alone. This kind of ships have 80 feet under the water. Digging 2 feet at the water line does nothing.

Egypt loses $15 million a day when the Canal is blocked. With that kind of money, can they at least send a couple of divers to go down and take some pictures? Can they at least figure out just how stuck is the ship? Can they find a way to unload some cargos and let buoyancy do some work? Can they recruit someone who actually knows math and physics? Basically, start working on a fail-proof plan, instead of betting it all on wishful thinking?

Thank-you

IAS Pay Scale and Grades

The IAS salary is governed by the grades of the IAS officers. The grades are assigned to the IAS officers based on their number of years in the services. The IAS officers are regularly upgraded to the upper grade based on their years of experience. Sometimes they are promoted based on their performance.

The IAS Salary structure is divided into eight grades. Each grade has a fixed basic pay and grade pay. This component of IAS Salary is fixed throughout the grade. The IAS salary comprises of the basic pay, grade pay, Dearness Allowance (DA), House Rent Allowance (HRA), Medical Allowance, Conveyance Allowance.

The DA depends on the city of posting and it differs from city to city. In the same way, HRA is also dependent on the residence of the IAS officer. If he is availing the housing facility provided by the government then he will be entitled to the HRA. All the allowances differ from officer to officer.

DA is the most important component of IAS salary and it is increased by the government from time to time. It is increased up to 103% of the basic salary. Union government periodically revise the DA for the employees and sometimes merge it with the basic salary.

HRA ranges from 8% to 24% of the basic salary. The pay structure as devised by the 7th pay commission does not provide the detail of the salary but provides clear information regarding the maximum and minimum salary of IAS officers within a grade. The payscale is further supported by Grade Pay, DA, HRD and several other benefits.

Now we will describe each grade.

Junior Scale Grade

Junior Scale is the first grade assigned to the IAS probationers. The post included in the junior grade are:

  • Sub-Divisional Magistrates (SDMs)
  • Sub-Divisional Officers (SDOs)
  • Sub-Collector (After completion of Two- years of Completion)

The post differed from state to state and depends on the state nomenclature of the administrative structure.

Senior Time Scale Grade

Senior Time Scale is the second in the line and assigned to the IAS officers who have completed 5 years of service. The posts included in the senior time scale grade are

  • District Magistrate (DM)
  • Collector
  • Joint Secretary of a Government Ministry

Junior Administrative Grade

Junior Administrative Grade is the next in line and as the name suggest, it is assigned to the IAS officers who complete 9 years in the services and becomes a member of the administrative group in the state bureaucracy. Some posts included in this grade are as follows.

  • Special Secretary to the Government of India
  • Head of Various Government Departments in the state government

Selection Grade

Selection grade is assigned to the IAS officers who complete 12 to 15 years in service. This is the most opportune time for the IAS officer. At this stage, he plays a very important role in policy decisions.

  • Secretary to a Ministry
  • Director in a field organisation

Super Time Scale

This grade is assigned to the IAS officers when they complete 17 to 20 years in the service. The officers don’t follow a regular posting because the postings depend on the will of state governments. Besides, the state cadre strength also plays its role here. The most important posts included in this grade is

  • Principal Secretary

Above Super Time Scale

This grade is assigned after 20 years of service. After 20 years of service, the IAS officer keeps getting the grades and the salary increases with the grade, but the posting depends on the will of the government. The records and performance play a very important role in the posting. The post also varies in this grade.

Apex Scale

The Apex scale is the second top grade in India and only second to the Cabinet Secretary Grade. The officers assigned to this grade only after they achieved success in their previous postings. The posting in this grade depends on the performance and the will of the government. Some posts included in this grade are as follows

  • Chief Secretary of States
  • Union Secretaries in charge of various ministries of Government of India such as Home Secretary, Finance Secretary

Cabinet Secretary Grade

This is the apex of the pyramid of IAS salary grades in India. Cabinet Secretary is the top officer of India. The IAS officer for this post is hand-picked by the Prime Minister of India and he can choose from a list of officers provided to him from the Ministry of Personnel.

One of the most important parts in relation to the IAS salary is that the salary is decided and fixed by the Union Government of India, but it is paid from the State funds. The state to which the IAS officer is assigned pays the salary and the other benefits.
